He was born July 16, 1944 in St. Elmo, IL to Louis and Mabel (Correll) Vogel. He married Karen Lannert on January 26, 1969 in Pekin, IL. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2002 in Peoria. Also preceding him in death were his parents and eight siblings, Bernard, Victor, Gerald, Norbert, Angela, Alice, Charlotte, and Veronica.
Surviving are his four children, Holly (Kenny) Cassidy of Mackinaw, Tammy (David) Beaver of Manito, David Vogel II of Peoria, and Chad (Sara) Vogel of Florida. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Bethany, Breann, Zackary, Jonathon, Kylie, Miracle, Jaelyn, Cami, and Casper; three great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Florina, Joe, Larry, Anna-Marie, Eugenia, Joan, Roberta, and Martha; and many nieces and nephews.
David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and then worked in the Foundry for Caterpillar for many years before retiring. He attended at St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post in East Peoria. David enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo, and was an avid Cardinal Baseball Fan.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Pastor Michael Downs will officiate.
