

Born May 17, 1923 in Peoria to Edward and Margaret (Hamer) Manges, she married Joseph W. Mingus on December 8, 1945 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2001 in Peoria. She was also preceded by her parents; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Randy (Rose) Mingus of Pekin; one daughter, Kandace (Steven) Zarley of Peoria; three grandchildren, T.J. (Joanna) Mingus of Pekin, Tricia (Greg) Jennings of Green Valley and Bradley (Antoinette) Schwab of Peoria; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond (Kim) Manges of Tremont.
A homemaker, Ellen had worked for Boss Glove Company as an inspector and had also worked for Kresces Dime Store, Newberry’s Dime Store and Commercial National Bank.
She had been a member of Christian Assembly Church in Peoria.
Ellen loved being with her grandchildren and she also enjoyed reading the Bible, doing crossword puzzles and gardening.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Terry L. Goode will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of both Amy’s Country Manor and Comfort Plus Hospice for the compassion and care given to Ellen.
