

Born March 5, 1925, in Tranmere, England to Charles and Ada (Lincoln) Wood, she married Aldo Soffietti on May 4, 1946, in Pekin. He passed away on August 1, 1984, in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one son, Alan Soffietti.
Surviving are one son, Barry Soffietti of Peoria; three grandchildren, Andrea Jacobs, Carrie Bral and Mark Soffietti and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Brahl, Chase Brahl, Austin Jacobs, Abigail Jacobs, Bea Soffietti, George Soffietti, Peter Soffietti and Marjarie Soffietti.
Elsie worked as a releaser in the engineering department for 30 years at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria and retired on September 1, 1982. She was also a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
She was a former volunteer at the Pekin Public Library and Pekin Hospital Aux. She loved to knit, walk, and take care of her flower garden.
Elsie was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin and a part of the Episcopal Church Women and Altar Guild.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin. Rev. Jonathan Butcher will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
