

Born November 21, 1939 in Olaton, KY to Ronald and Rose Mae (Moore) Magan, he married Billye Jean Fletcher on March 18, 1960 in Alton. He later married Trina Sue (Logsdon) Riviere on March 27, 1986 in Olaton. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ernest B. (Laurie) Magan, Jr. of Delavan and Garrett Magan of Thailand; four daughters, Susan (Clark) Martin of Cedar Park, TX, Melissa (Tim) Naylor of Taos, NM, Jody Riviere of Pekin and Suzanne (Scott) Hagemann of Glasford; six grandchildren, Bryan, Ryker, Steel, Crew, Meridian and Grayson; one great-granddaughter, Tatum; one sister, Janice (Bob) Weiss of Wilmington, DE; two brothers, Ronald (Carolyn) Magan of Minocqua, WI and Kevin (Doris) Magan of Olaton, KY and many nieces and nephews. His Kentucky family will fondly remember him by the nickname “Bud”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Randall Heflin.
He had served in the United States Army in Korea.
Ernie was self-employed, owning and operating Southside Auto Parts on Derby Street in Pekin from 1977 until retiring in 1995. He previously worked as the factory representative for Firestone Tire and Maremont Muffler. He also had formerly managed a tire store in Elgin and Crystal Lake.
Ernie enjoyed restoring antiques and along with being an Amazon fanatic, he was a movie buff. He also was an avid reader and liked to paint watercolors. He was an excellent cook and proud of the 1939 Chevy he had restored. A former member of the River City Street Rods, he was a proud member of the Serenity chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous. He also was a Mason.
His visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, with a memorial service immediately following. The Rev. Richard W. Jones of Pekin Bible Church will officiate.
