

Marquette Heights ~ Esther C. "Pat" Mayer, 76, of 214 Frontenac Road, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, November 27, 2005 at her residence.Born February 14, 1929 in Stacyville, Iowa to John and Elizabeth (Rauen) Isaac, she married Elmer Joseph Mayer on September 16, 1950 in Stacyville.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Melinda (William) Bechaz of Omaha, Nebraska and Teresa Mayer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three sons, Richard (Argelia) Mayer of Newburgh, Indiana, Timothy (Barbara) Mayer of Metamora, Thomas (Donna) Mayer of Louisville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Brett, Jill, and Kyle Bechaz, all of Omaha, Ryan Mayer of Newburgh, Melissa Haickel of Salvador, Brazil, Kyle and Kelly Jo Mayer, both of Metamora and Ian Mayer of Louisville; twosisters, Bert Pint and Lorraine (Leo) Meitner, both of Osage, Iowa and one brother, Harold (Kay) Isaac of Stacyville.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Verelyn Isaac.
She was a 1946 graduate of Stacyville High School and a 1949 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing in Mason City, Iowa.
Mrs. Mayer was a registered nurse at Pekin Hospital from 1953 to 1991 and continued volunteer nursing at the Heartland Clinic in Peoria.
She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur where she was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was a member of the Pekin Registered Nurses Club and the Pekin Hospital Retirees Club.
She enjoyed bowling and golfing and was a member of several nursing and mixed leagues, including the Fon du Lac Womens Golf League.
She also enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting, sewing, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2005at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2005at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
