

Born March 4, 1929 in Pekin to Franklin B. and Margaret L. (Bodi) Zimmerman, he married Doris Buchanan on April 19, 1952 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Dennis (Debbie) Zimmerman and Kenneth (Laura) Zimmerman, both of Pekin; 1 daughter, Joyce (Larry) Schoon of Pekin; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (Emma) Zimmerman of Pekin; 1 sister, Peggy Wasson of Glasford; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
A consumate family man, Frank was loved and respected by his entire family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Lois Zimmerman; and his brother-in-law, Roger Wasson.
Frank worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 38 years, retiring as a design engineer in 1985.
After retiring, he was s self-employed piano technician.
A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, he had served as the church moderator, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent.
He was a member of the Piano Technician’s Guild and the Caterpillar Retirees.
Frank also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed fishing and watching Chicago Cubs baseball.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
