George W Schaffer

He was born November 16, 1952 in St. Louis Missouri to Carl Henry and Myrtle Barbara (Godier) Schaffer.

Georgeis survived by one daughter, Paula (David Davis) Schaffer of Pekin; one sister, Marilyn Sorden of St. Louis and two grandsons, Takoda Schaffer and Preston Davis, both of Pekin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Richard and Norman Schaffer, and one brother-in-law Fred Sorden.

George worked as a machinist at Carr Lane Distributing retiring in 2019 after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed radio talk shows and going through coin books in in free time. He also loved spending time with his grandsons and going to their sporting events. He would spend time outdoors anytime he could and even found a special spot in Pekin at Coal Miner’s Park under a tree behind his home at the U.A.W.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held for George at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
