Henriella Diggs

Pekin ~ Henriella Diggs, 96, of Pekin, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Charter Senior Living of Pekin. She was born on September 25, 1929, in Lexington, Tennessee, a daughter of Youther and Gertrude (Thomas) Singleton. Henriella married Murrel Diggs on December 9, 1950, in Tennessee. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1991, in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Karen Noe on February 9, 2011 in Pekin; and two sisters, Shirley Harvey and Virginia Singleton.

Henriella is survived by her son, Travis (Diane) Diggs of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Angela (Shawn) Jacobs, Michael (Chloe Griffin) Noe, Tara (Michael) Endsley, and Tawnya Lee; seven great-grandchildren, Isaac, Nathan, Taylor, Ragen, Luke, Tristan, and Austen; two sisters, Nancy McKenzie and Norma Cox, both of Tennessee; and one brother, Richard Singleton of Tennessee.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Pekin. She served for many years as a Sunday School teacher at Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. Henriella was a homemaker and volunteered with the Red Cross, Pekin Hospital Auxiliary and Illinois Valley Library Systems. While she was a resident of Charter Senior Living of Pekin, Henriella enjoyed being a part of Bingo, the music program, and especially making her homemade cards with "Made by Henriella" stamped on cards.

Henriella's private graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
