

Born October 7, 1941 in Pomona to Oscar and Mildred (Childers) Rawson, he married Connie J. Burge on August 22, 1986 in Pekin. She died May 25, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Theresa Funk; and one brother, Bill Rawson.
Surviving are three daughters, Sherrie Rawson of Carbondale, Michelle (Dennis) Prater of Groveland, and Stephanie Rawson of Tremont; one step-son, Robert Groenewold, Jr. of South Pekin; eight grandchildren, Ashlea (Jason) Miller, Patrick Durst, Paula Emmons, Timothy Eades, Jay Ridings, Corey (Meridith) Ruble, Jesse Ruble, and Noah Ruble; four great-grandchildren, Erika Gordon, who he helped raise, Camden Cook, Zoie Miller, and Matthias Ruble; one brother, Randy Rawson of Anna; two sisters, Carol (Glen) Johnston and Pat O’Cull, both of Glasford; and sister-in-law, Nancy Rawson.
Jack was employed at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a machinist in Building KK in East Peoria. Following retirement, he worked for the Village of South Pekin as a sanitation worker and also had his own yard service.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening and flowers. He will be remembered for being kind, gentle, and a giving person. He had a caring heart and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His memorial visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the South Pekin Town Twisters or to Larry’s Casting Kids.
