He was born July 28, 1991 in Pekin to Bruce W. and Sharon K. (Hackney) Smith.
Surviving are his parents; his grandmothers, Esther Hackney of Green Valley and Lenora Smith of South Pekin; one step-brother, John Cox of Galesburg and one step-sister, Linde (Tim) Sikes of Macomb.
His grandfathers preceded him in death.
Jacob was a freshman at Pekin Community High School. He was graduated from Edison Jr. High School, where he was on the high honor roll. He enjoyed reading, playing video games, working with computers and swimming. He especially enjoyed his trips to Six Flags.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
