He was born on August 7, 1942 in Peoria to Franklin D. and Dorothy L. (Wall) Belfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings, Geraldine, Gary, Gene, Charles, Judy, Franklin, Rowland and Darlene Belfield and two grandchildren, Aaron Davis and Camden Belfield.
Surviving are three children, Mike Belfield of Peoria; Jamie Belfield of Creve Coeur and Glenda Davis of Peoria; four grandchildren, Katelyn Belfield, Ashley McCleary, Jaimee Davis and Jordan Davis and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alli and Ayana.
James retired from Caterpillar, Inc.
He enjoyed fishing, causing trouble, and feeding the squirrels and birds, he especially loved bluejays.
A celebration of James' life will be held at later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
