He was born December 2, 1948 in Braidwood, Illinois to Francis Mark and Barbara (Person) Brackett. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his children, Kelly (Robert) Svendsen of Pekin and Keith Brackett of Lincoln; two grandsons, Dylan and Donovan Svendsen, both of Pekin; two sisters, Mary Baize of Pekin and Sharon (Phillip) Wynn of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
James loved to work on cars in his free time and also enjoyed movies, reading, puzzles and helping out with home projects with family and friends.
His graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor John Vaughn will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
