

Jim was born as John Michael Wojtyna and was adopted by Paul and Gloria “Skip” (Boyer) Broderick, shortly after birth. They preceded him in death.
Jim grew up in Lowell, Indiana.
He married Mary Windish on May 23, 1996 and together they raised two children in Brookline, Massachusetts. Mary survives.
Jim truly loved being a father and spending time with his son, Gharett Broderick of Brookline, Massachusetts and daughter, Kristen Windish of Peoria.
Jim moved to Phoenix, Arizona to care for his mother in 2016. It was there that he found his dream job as a financial analyst at Canopy Wealth Management, Scottsdale Arizona. He loved his team of coworkers at Canopy. They were very gracious, caring and supportive of Jim as he was battling and undergoing cancer treatments.
Jim began his career as a research chemist and then moved into the environmental insurance field as a risk analyst. While at American International Group, he managed the environmental insurance operations for the Northeastern region. Leveraging his experience at AIG, Jim co-founded several financial services companies, including EIU Group, a Citigroup subsidiary where he served as CEO. Subsequently, he served as Director of a specialty business unit within the Crum & Foster organization.
Jim has a multidisciplinary academic background with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Loyola University Chicago. Jim was also very passionate about cooking, he had a culinary degree from Johnson and Wales Culinary School in Providence, Rhode Island.
Jim’s other hobbies were hiking with his family and friends. He loved hashing over all sports Chicago with his son. His favorite passion was baseball and playing softball with the guys in his Brookline, Massachusetts softball league. There were like his brothers to him.
A gathering celebrating Jim’s life will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday March 4, 2022 at Bell-O’ Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington St, Brookline, MA 02445.
