

Born July 9, 1928 in Peoria to James Ira and Mary Jane (Brogan) Cohenour, he married Eva Viola Lock on June 27, 1950 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, James E. (Raelene) Cohenour of Pekin; two daughters, Carolyn (David) Burling and Cheryl (Jay) Sours, both of Pekin; six grandchildren, Stephanie Cohenour, Christopher (Dawn) Cohenour, Dustin Cohenour, Brandon (Kendra) Burling, Courtney (Alan) Dressel and Daniel Sours; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Cohenour of California and John Cohenour of Pekin; and three sisters, Virginia (Noland) Henderson of Pekin, Leona May Lock of South Pekin and Patty Ann Azure of Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Jim was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin, where he enjoyed the many church activities and youth organizations. He was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.
He had served his country in the United States Army.
He had worked as a manifest checker for Hiram Walker for 33 years, retiring in 1982, before the plant closed down. During his retirement, James worked for David Burling Excavating until 2003.
Jim was a ham radio operator, using the number W9LN, active on Hams for Christ and Pal Talk. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a longtime liaison for the Military Army Radio Services (MARS). He also was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Steven Rowell and Rev. Randy Justus will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin, where military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
