

Born August 23, 1943 in Mapleton to Horace and Doris (Macents) Sutton, he married Nancy Selby on February 12, 1966 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Shelly (Rick) McAninch of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jami Ruebel, Ariese Patterson and Kenneth Cornwell; three great-grandchildren, Kilah Ruebel, Ryleah Ruebel and Zaiden Hardamon; two brothers, William (Pat) Sutton and Charles Patterson, both of Pekin; two sisters, Jackie Davis of Pekin and Frances “Doc” Chapman of Hettick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive parents, Gilbert and Viola Patterson; three brothers and three sisters.
Jim was a member of Laborer’s International Union of North America Local #231.
He last worked aVerna’s Restaurant in Chandlerville Previously he had worked at Riverview Hatchery in Pekin and had also been a maintenance man for Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Pekin from 1985 to 1994.
He was a former member of the Pekin Beaver Patrol C.B. Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and carpentry. He also enjoyed professional wrestling and riding bareback broncos in rodeos in his younger days. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services.
