Born October 5, 1934 in Peoria County to William H. and Jessie Mae (Miller) Spillman, he married Sharon Ann Carter on June 26, 1965 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Vi Jessa D. (Dale "Buster") Oates of Pekin and Jamie S. Spillman of South Pekin; one son, James R. Spillman, Jr. of Pekin; two grandchildren, Gary (Michelle) Gossage of Manito and Erica Gossage of Florida; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Spillman of Pekin.
His parents preceded him in death.
Jim worked out of Laborers Local #231 in Pekin for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was presently serving as a trustee on the Retiree Council.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Thomas Cone will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
