
Born February 28, 1930 in Greenview to Lyle and Gladys (Walker) Emmons, he married Ann Darlene Sanders on October 28, 1951 in North Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Donna Emmons of Pekin and Darcy (Roger) Scott of Mackinaw; 2 sons, James “Ed” (Dawn) Emmons of Pekin and Donald (Teresa) Emmons of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lila Boyer of Pleasant Plains and Shirley Heyen of Bellevue, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 granddaughter, Sarah Jane Scott; and 2 brothers, Robert and John Emmons.
Jim served 5 enlistments in the U.S. Navy between 1947 and 1972. He worked as a truck driver between and after his enlistment periods in the Navy.
He was a life member of the Roy L. King V.F.W. Post 1232 in Pekin. He was a former member of the Pekin Moose Lodge #916.
Jim was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2009 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Full military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team
