Janice Kruse

Born September 19, 1943 in Canton to William H. and Corda (Wolfe) Hickman, she married Robert Frank Kruse on April 22, 1962 in Canton. He died June 21, 2003 in Gridley. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Joe Church; a brother-in-law, Donnie Johnson and her in-laws, Frank and Florence Kruse.

Surviving are three children, Leyona Church of Gridley, Robert W. (Sherrie) Kruse of East Peoria and Jennifer (A.J.) Sleevar of Gridley; nine grandchildren, Nichole Hudson, Mark Olt, Amy Olt, Joshua (Jessie) Gumm, Ashley (Pat) Church, Joey Sleevar, Becky Sleevar, Tony Sleevar and Peyton Sleevar; seven great-grandchildren, Sierra, Heather, Addison, Dade, Bentley, Parker and Ryker; one brother, William (Loretta) Hickman of Canton; two sisters, Nancy (Harry) Decker of Lewistown and Dottie Johnson of Canton; many special nieces and nephews.

Janice worked as a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed camping with her husband, crocheting, making crafts and scrapbooking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. Janice will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She touched everyone she knew. May she look over us and keep us safe until we meet again.

Her memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Canton. Pastor Monroe Bailey will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice organization in Janice’s name.
