Joann I Kensinger

Born January 22, 1929 in Peoria to Delno Howard and Joyce M. (Adkins) Schmider, she married Arthur Norman Kensinger on March 14, 1948 in Peoria. He died July 17, 2004 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael N. Kensinger and Randy Kensinger; two grandsons, Shane Kensinger and David Kensinger and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Rev. Rick (Cindy) Kensinger of Groveland; five grandchildren, Tim Dozard, Rick (Michelle) Kensinger, Breanna Boyd, Josh Kensinger, Skylar Kensinger and Robert Kensinger; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Schmider of Peoria Heights and one sister, June (Bill) Arnold of Washington. She also leaves two daughter-in-laws, Beverly Kensinger of Pekin and Jill Kensinger of Canton.Joann worked for Proctor Hospital in Peoria in their housekeeping department for 18 years, retiring in 1993.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship in Morton, where she was active in the women's group.

Joann will be remembered as being totally devoted to her family and grandchildren. She loved watching sports on television and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Rick Kensinger,herson,and Rev. Bob Martin will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
