

Born November 1, 1933 in Peoria to Henry R. and Jennie Marie (Pickel) Fugitt, she married Donald E. Richie on July 19, 1953 in Peoria. He died May 23, 1982 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dell Pickel, Russell Fugitt, Jerry Fugitt and Bill Fugitt.
Surviving are one daughter, Lynn (George) Cline of Danville; one son, Spencer (Janet) Richie of Pekin; one grandson, Casey (Megan) Cline of Byron; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Bonnie Zara of Bradenton.
Joanne was the Business Office Manager at Bradley University for 28 years, retiring in 1995.
She was an animal lover, caring for many pets over the years. After she retired, she was a caregiver for the elderly and one special needs individual. She also worked part-time for The Florence Crittenton Home for several years.
Joanne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria. She was the Chief Cook for the Loaves and Fish Ministry and a member of the Caring Hearts Group, both at the church.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Peoria. Pastor Tim Ozment will officiate the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
