

Born April 23, 1945, in Peoria to Lawrence and Betty (Lane) Steveson, she married John William Utt, Jr. on March 28, 1975, in Pekin. He survives. In March, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are their children, Margo (John) Tony of Peoria, Steve (Sue) Smith of Virginia, Susan (Steven) Day of Oregon and David Utt of Creve Coeur; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandy Wiese of Metamora and one brother, Ron Steveson of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Mike Steveson and one sister, Cathy Lenover.
Joanne had worked as a nurse for ten years at OSF in Peoria and Midwest Kidney Center for 15 years, retiring in 2006.
Joanne devoted her life to serving our Lord. She sang with the New Victory Singers at First Christian Church in Pekin for 22 years and was active in the Illinois Heartland Walk to Emmaus for 40 years.
She was a friend to all. She enjoyed reading mystery books as well.
She was a member of New Life Christian Church in Morton where she participated in many book studies and played dominoes and other games with her church family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Christian Church in Morton. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private burial will take place at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date.
