John Thomas Bailey

Born May 14, 1949 in Peoria to Thomas M. and Elizabeth Ann (Ledden) Bailey, he married Sharon Lynn (Ogolin) Welty on June 7, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Surviving are two sons, Dustin (Michelle) Bailey of Highlandville, Missouri and Todd (Karen) Bailey of Calvert City, Kentucky; his stepdaughter, Ashley (Jason) Roberts of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Tim (Laurie) Bailey of Washington and one sister, Mary (Greg) Marcussen of Bartonville.

His parents preceded him in death.

John worked for the Creve Coeur Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1994 as Sergeant. He also was the longtime D.A.R.E. Officer for the Village of Creve Coeur.

He enjoyed playing golf in retirement and was a member of Peoria Elks Lodge #20. He also liked to travel.

No services or visitation are planned. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date.
