

Born August 24, 1944 in Chicago to William and Ellen (Topping) Coyle, he married Ursula Marie Wysocki on August 20, 1966 in Chicago. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Patrick (Karen) Coyle of Peoria; three grandchildren, Kelly Thomas Coyle, Jonah Frank Coyle, and Grace Ellen Coyle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Dorothy Wysocki; two sisters-in-law, Teresa (Edward) Farina and Yolanda Wysocki; two brothers-in-law, Peter Wysocki and Robert Wysocki; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth; and three brothers, Bill, Gene, and Tom Coyle.
He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War as a paratrooper in Company A, 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. He received 3 Bronze Stars, including 1 for valor and the Viet Nam Cross for Gallantry.
John worked for International Paper and Arvey Paper, both in Chicago for over 20 years. He later worked for Service Master in Aurora for 7 years, last working in 2001 as a systems analyst.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He had been a volunteer and director of the PADS Homeless Shelter in Streamwood.
John was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid competitive shooter, competing in matches across the Midwest. He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed playing pool in former years.
His funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 from Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory to Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where the Mass will be at 10 a.m. Father David Whiteside will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where recitation of the Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin with military rites accorded by the United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
