He was born May 30,1934 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to John and Mary (Sledzik) Cronin.
Surviving are one daughter, Julie Cronin; four grandchildren, Kristina Cronin, Donny Cronin, Michael Towson, and Shannon Jennings; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Michael, Horizon, and Amber; and one sister, Mary Fennelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Janice Cronin; andone son, John Cronin, Jr.
John was of the Catholic faith.
He had worked as a car salesman in the area, last working at Downs Motors in Creve Coeur.
John was a member of the Train Club. He enjoyed walking the track at Eastside Center in East Peoria and was a fan of NASCAR.
His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur, where visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
