John Christian Geiger

FAIRBURY ~ John Christian Geiger, 82, of Fairbury, passed away at 8:58 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare in Pekin. John was born January 27, 1939 in Strawn, Illinois to Christian and Hazel (Kuntz) Geiger. He married the love of his life, Rosetta Thompson on September 1, 1961 in Strawn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister. Surviving are one son, Larry (Robin) Geiger of Decatur; one daughter, Nona (William) Huber of Creve Coeur; two grandchildren, Patrick Huber of Creve Coeur and Kathleena Geiger of Decatur. He was an United States Army veteran. John was a Correctional Officer at the Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac for 31 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and his trips on his Goldwing with his daughter. He loved Civil War reenactments and pugs. A gathering celebrating John's life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Strawn Cemetery in Strawn at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
