He was born March 8, 1962 in Peoria to Thomas A. and Betty (Bart) Leazenby.
Surviving are one sister, Nancy (Dave) Onken of Pekin; one brother, James Leazenby of Creve Coeur and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Thomas L. Leazenby and one sister Bonnie L. Leazenby Burmeister.
John was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Mapleton for over 10 years. He had also worked as a truck driver for several local companies.
John enjoyed collecting model trains, fishing and food. He loved spending time with his 15 year old Chihuahua Buddy. He was a jolly and happy man who would do anything to help anyone he met.
His private graveside service will be held at Westfall Cemetery in Victoria, Illinois. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
