PEKIN ~ Joseph Leonard Elliott, 77, of Pekin, passed away at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his daughter’s residence in Havana.
Born July 10, 1937 in Pekin to Addison and Gertrude (Wilder) Elliott, he married Gladys Mae Taylor on December 11, 1953 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2010 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his mother, Gertrude Elliott of Pekin; two daughters, Jolene Thomas and Janele (Tim) Hibbitts, both of Havana; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Clifford (Joann) Elliott of Pekin.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Joseph had worked as a meat cutter for IGA in Minier from the age of 16 until he was 74.
Joseph cherished the time he spent with his family.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Oak Grove Bible Church, 3221 Springfield Road in East Peoria.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
