

PEKIN ~ Juanita Harriett Rupp, 84, of 1716 South 14th Street, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at her home. Born October 16, 1923 in Ellettsville, Indiana to Otto and Stella Leona (Jackson) Swingle, she married Allen Woodrow Rupp on November 4, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa. He died on February 25, 1994 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, William H. Swingle Jr., two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Connie M. Dover of Pekin; four grandchildren, Thomas A. Blasdel, Darren W. Dover, Jeremy W. Swingle, and Patricia A. Anderson; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rupp worked on the bottling line at the American Distilling Company until they went out of business in 1979. She then worked at the Pekin Moose Lodge as a cook for 17 years, last working in 1998. Juanita enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter #673. Her funeral will be Friday, December 7, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Randy Hall will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
