

Born November 23, 1925 in Chatsworth to Harvey William and Annabelle (Warder) Bargmann, he married Rosemary Eaker on May 18, 1947 in Piper City. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Donald C. Bargmann of Pekin; two daughters, Peggy A. (Michael) Fisher and Kristi L. (Rodger) Buff, both of Pekin; ten grandchildren, Sherrill (Andy) Kolvek, Kelley (Jeff) Bradford, both of Morton, Beth (Gary) Geier of Washington, Robin (Tom) Conlin, Ryan (Kim) Ashby, Andrew Buff, all of Pekin, Rodney (Kathy) Ashby of Delavan, Jenny (David) Harris of Marquette Heights, Jennifer Bargmann and Jeremy Bargmann, both of Los Gatos, California; seventeen great-grandchildren and two brothers, Burley (Carol) Bargmann of Gilman and Johnny (Donna) Bargmann of Piper City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren and two brothers.
Leo served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
Leo worked for Central Illinois Light Company from 1959 until retiring in 1983 as a heavy equipment operator at the E.D. Edwards Power Station. He was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers Local 8. He previously worked construction and was a 50 year member of Laborers Local 165 in Peoria.
Leo was a 50 year member of Temple Lodge 46, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Peoria. He also was a member of Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869 and was an honorary member of Tobin-Nanninga Detachment 85 of the Marine Corps League in Pekin.
A NASCAR enthusiast, Leo was a fan of Jeff Gordon and also enjoyed fishing. He loved his family and enjoyed helping others. He often did tractor work with his little red Massey Ferguson.
He was of the Methodist faith.
His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Clint Bargmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City, with military rites accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Gibb American Legion Post 588 of Piper City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate, 4722 North Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61614 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
