

Lillian Mae (Chamberlain) Haney, age 94, of Glasford passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord on Thursday October 12,2017 at 5:33 p.m. at Farmington Country Manor, Farmington, Illinois.
She was born the sixth daughter of Gilbert and Jessie (Sonnemaker) Chamberlain on September 15, 1923 in Glasford. She graduated from Timber Township High School in 1941; attended summer school at Brown’s Business College in Peoria and accepted her first place of employment at Chris Hoerr & Sons Wholesale Grocers in Peoria.
She married Francis Brooks Haney on October 2, 1942 in Canton, MO. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1985. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Glasford for many years teaching Sunday School and held various positions on the church board, enjoyed being a member of the ladies WSCS group and was frequently referred to as the “Pie Lady” because of her delicious donated pies. She lovingly managed to balance the task of wife, mother, and employee of the Glasford Gazette for fifty plus years. She was an avid reader, especially of history and enjoyed her Pinochle Club and was a proud member of the Red Hat Rockettes. She also volunteered at the gift shop at Wildlife Prairie Park for several years after retiring. She will forever be remembered as a wonder wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter Marsha (Ed) Shafer, Glasford; three grandchildren, Greg (Monica) Shafer, Waxhaw, NC, Jannelle King, Farmington, Lisa (Brett) Burgess, Plainfield; four great grandchildren, Luke Shafer, Gabe King, Dylan and Ava Burgess; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, an infant son, and a stillborn daughter.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Glasford United Methodist Church with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Ethan Carnes will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at Lancaster Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her honor to her church. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Farmington Country Manor for the wonderful care and devotion shown to her while she was there and also to VITAS Hospice for their love and support that helped to give her peace during her last days and guide her safely to her heavenly home
