Lonnie Sue Hubert

Born August 31, 1957 in Pekin to Harold “Speed” and Eva June (Merritt) Knowles, she married Joseph Gary “Joe” Hubert on April 24, 1982 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jon (Angie Smiley) Knowles of Peoria; two granddaughters, Courtney (Tyler Schaeffer) Knowles of Cincinnati, Ohio and Haley Smiley of Peoria; one brother, Jonnie (Martha Jo) Knowles of The Villages, Florida; one sister, Scottie Pfeiffer of International Falls, Minnesota and three sisters-in-law that loved her like a sister, Linda Park of East Dundee, Janet Young of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Dolores Fox of Panama City, Florida. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Gayle Williams of Pekin.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Lonnie and her husband co-owned and operated Neil’s Appliances in Pekin from 2008 until retiring in 2019. She worked as a hairdresser most of her adult life and continued to work even in retirement. She previously had worked as a table games dealer at the Par-A-Dice in East Peoria from 1996 to 2008.

Lonnie loved fishing and enjoyed drinking a cold beer at the Silver Bullet in East Peoria. She was a giving person and would help a person in need at the drop of a hat. She also was a big animal lover.

A celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date. Her cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
