

Born January 14, 1926 in Pekin to Roy Nelson and Agnes (Gray) Blackaby, she married Norman Dale Shelton on February 8, 1953 in Pekin. He died November 20, 2005. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gregory Keith Shelton and Kirk Trafton Shelton, both in infancy and four brothers, Richard Eugene Blackaby, Merle Blackaby, Dale Blackaby and John Ivan Blackaby.
Surviving are two sons, Richard “Rick” (Paula) Shelton of Metropolis and Nathan “Nate (Susan) Shelton of Kankakee; five grandchildren, Travis (Stacey) Shelton of Bourbonnais, Nicholas (Amy) Shelton of Nokesville, Virginia, Haley (Michael) Benson of Joliet, Benjamin Shelton and Matthew Shelton, both of Kankakee; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Shelton, Cole Shelton, Aubrey Shelton, all of Nokesville, Virginia, Elizabeth Shelton, Emily Shelton and Jackson Shelton, all of Bourbonnais and two sisters, Donna Fritsch of California and Beverly Ketchell of Pekin.
Lorraine was a longtime member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene, where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior by teaching Sunday school for 80 years, last teaching in 2016. She was a former choir director and choir member, served on the Sunday school board and was a member of the Prime Timers group, all at the church. For 23 years Lorraine was the church secretary and retired in 1992
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Cheryl Sherwood will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Cremation has been accorded and private inurnment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
