M. Arlene Johnson

Born May 7, 1932 in Peoria to Roland T. and Marvel I. (Keime) Wasson, she married Gwain Lee Johnson on September 30, 1950 in East Peoria. He died in 1990 in Iowa City, Iowa. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Argo.

Surviving are one daughter, Michele (Danny) Massey of Pekin; two sons, Charles Lee Allen (Cindy) Johnson of San Diego, California and Daniel Lee Roy (Diane) Johnson of Pekin; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ron (Norma) Wasson of Orange Park, Florida.

Arlene was of the Baptist faith.

She loved her three dogs, Coco, Cooper and Miss Fancy. She also liked to shop, travel, and spend time with family and friends.

She worked for Pekin Hospital as a receptionist for 29 years. She then managed the accounting department at NTS Services Corp. in Pekin for many years.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.Mr. Kenneth A. Seestof Faith Baptist Church in Pekin will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
