Born February 26, 1930 at the family homestead in rural Genoa to Amos Bryan and Alice Cora (Kurth) Olmstead, she married Kenneth “Kenny” Lowman on April 19, 1952 in Santa Maria, California. He died on August 29, 1980. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Floyd Olmstead.
Surviving are three children, Randall (Paula) Lowman of Lexington, Kentucky, Nancy Snyder of Ridgefield, Washington and Paul (Denise) Lowman of Pekin; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (James) Allen, Victoria Lowman, both of Pekin, Nathaniel (Amy) Lowman of New Lenox, Nicholas Lowman, Stuttgart, Germany and Kaitlyn Rogers of Ridgefield, Washington and three great-grandchildren, Rosalie Allen, Mallory Lowman and Zach Lowman.
Margaret worked for The American Distilling Company in Pekin as the personal secretary to Mr. Rosenberg, the company president for 10 years. She later worked at Pekin Community High School as the assistant to the building and grounds department, working under Mr. Cadigan and Ziebold for 25 years, retiring in 1998. She also had worked at the Pekin Public Library in the Children’s Department.
Margaret was extremely devoted to her grandchildren and like tending to her roses.
She was a longstanding member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin. She also had been a member of Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and was known as one of the Distillery girls.
Her private family services and visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor James C. McClarey will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
