

She was born on January 28, 1936, in Peoria to Clarence and Eleanor (Hofer) Dunlap, and was united in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Draper on September 1, 1956, at St. Clements Church in Dunlap. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2007.
She is survived by her children; Diane (John) Reid of Edelstein, Dennis Draper of Peoria, Ronald Draper of Brimfield, Joseph (Leslie) Draper of Peoria, Jim (Lisa) Draper of Lenexa, Kansas and daughter-in-law Traci Draper of Chillicothe. One brother, Joseph (Peg) Dunlap of Peoria, two sisters, Lorraine (Gene) Fitzgerald of Downs, and Rose (Moises) Buzon of Rocky River, Ohio. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Daniel, daughter, Jeanne McMullen, daughter in law, Delaine, brother, James Dunlap and two sisters, Theresa Day and Janice Gilles.
Maribel’s faith was strong, and she was a devoted member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria. She served as a Sacristan and led the Rosary Guild for many years. The rosary was an important and guiding power of prayer in her life. She always had a positive attitude and enjoyed time with her family, taking long walks, making rosaries, and watching westerns on TV. She had many faithful friends that picked her up for church and took her to lunch.
Maribel worked part time for the Dunlap School District in the cafeteria. Together with her husband Ted, and children, they owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Dunlap from 1979 until 1991.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria with a visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Clement's Cemetery in Dunlap.
