

Born May 23, 1949 in Pekin to Philip E. and Wanita (Dunkel) Olt, he married Sherrie Kay Hentz (now Kruse) on July 11, 1981 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. Sherrie, along with his beloved daughter, Amy, was by his side at the time of his death. Sherrie and Mark had three children together.
Surviving are two daughters, Amy Olt and Nichole Olt-Hudson, both of Pekin; one son, Mark Olt, Jr. of Pekin; two grandchildren, Siarra Hudson and Heather Hudson; two sisters, Leanna Olt of Tucson, Arizona and Marina (Jay) Glaze of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and one brother, MAJ. Philip (Pamela) Olt, IV of Lyndon.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mark was a 1967 graduate of Pekin Community High School and was proud of his school letter and athletic honor award in basketball. He attended the University of Illinois briefly.
He worked making duck calls in the family business, P.S. Olt Co. for 24 years, retiring in 2002. He was an entrepreneur, as well, starting his own business, “Olt Oak Sales,” and was a traveling salesman. Mark first worked at the Pekin Mall at A.J. August.
Mark loved to hunt, fish and collect watches.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin.
His graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Burt Dancey will officiate. No visitation is planned.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin.
