He was born May 3, 1951 in Peoria to Leo L. and Dorothy V. (Caperton) Piershale. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Surviving are four brothers, Mike (Margaret) Piershale of Barrington, Dan Piershale of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tony Piershale of Pekin and John (Carol) Piershale of Crystal Lake; two sisters, Theresa (Matt) St. Dennis and Kathy Pier, both of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
Mark enjoyed watching news and keeping up on current events. He loved family gatherings where all enjoyed his company.
Mark was a voracious reader of classics and had a particular fondness for "the Iliad and the Odyssey".
He was in great demand as a team member during family games of trivial pursuit.
Mark was also an unpublished writer of poetry and short stories. Each year he would write a continuing saga for nieces and nephews involving exploits by characters that reflected the recipient of those tales.
He also enjoyed long car rides with his brother, Tony.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. His brother, Mike Piershale will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:15 p.m. Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
