

He was born February 26, 1966 in Pekin to Oral “Gene” Eugene and Darlene Ann (Kamin) Johnson. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are one brother, Raymond (Chris) Johnson of North Pekin; two nieces, Janelle (Brian) Koppenhoefer of Metamora and Jayme (Joe) Lee of Pekin; one nephew, Jayson (Tina) Johnson of East Peoria and his close friend of many years, Karen Vahling.
Marty grew up in Pekin and helped form a local rock band, Hot Stove, for which he was the vocalist. His passion for heavy metal music showed through his numerous collection of CDs.
Marty also had an adventurous spirit. After visiting the Virgin Islands on vacation, he decided to immediately move there and found a job in Maho Bay working in the kitchen at a camping resort, then later performing administrative duties. In recent years, Marty returned to Pekin where he frequented the streets riding his bicycle everywhere he went.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory of Pekin.
