

Born October 14, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Fred W. and Edna (Vomhof) Foss, he married Sharon Lee Cadwell on August 15, 1959 in Iowa City, IA. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Wayne (Susan) Foss of Pekin; one daughter, Karen (David) Capper of Iowa City and four grandchildren, Brian Capper of Minneapolis, Darren Foss of Pekin, Diane Capper of Minneapolis and Emily Foss of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville Foss and Milton Foss.
Marvin attended Mankato State College for 1 year before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy from January 10, 1951 to September 3, 1954 and served aboard the USS Valley Forge during the Korean War.
After his military service, he attended South Dakota State College where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1957 and a later a Master’s of Science Degree in Hospital Pharmacy from the University of Iowa in 1959.
A longtime pharmacist in the Pekin and Peoria area, Marvin was hired as the first pharmacist at Pekin Hospital in 1959 and later worked in various retail pharmacist positions in Pekin for many years. He retired from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in November of 1992.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin since 1959. He also was a member of the Pekin Church Dartball League playing on the First Baptist Church of Pekin team. He was an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman and also enjoyed rooting for his favorite sports teams.
Marvin took great satisfaction in his family, home, and profession.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Stephen Barnes will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Private entombment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
