

Born January 10, 1940 in Pekin to James and Nellie (Hyatt) Simpson, he married Carol Jean Parker on November 22, 1967 in Pekin. She died June 17, 2010 in Green Valley. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Linda Simpson, Loretta Hart and Jeanette Denicus and two brothers, Wayne Simpson and Glen Simpson.
Surviving are one son, Kelly (Nancy) Simpson of Green Valley; two grandsons, Nicholas Wayne Simpson of Pekin and Zachary Dale Simpson of Manito; one brother, Gerald (Mary) Simpson of Pekin and one sister, Janice (Don) Rust of South Carolina.
Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army.
He had worked out of Carpenters Local 183 in East Peoria as the Superintendent at Allied Construction Services in Peoria for 30-plus years before retiring in 2000.
Marvin was very particular about the appearance of his yard, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and line dancing with his wife, Carol.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
