Mary Agnes Davis

Born November 25, 1941 in Peoria, Illinois to Clyde and Irene (Jefford) Dorethy, she married Jimmie Ray Davis on June 27, 1959 at the Glasford United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Darren Davis (Terri Jenkins-McCrimon) of Westchester, Illinois and Dale (Lisa) Davis of Midland, Michigan; five grandchildren, Alec Davis of Odenton, Maryland, Madeline (Nic) Wiggins of San Francisco, California, Elizabeth Davis of Lakewood, Ohio, Julia Davis (Srdjan Tesinic) of Boulder, Colorado and Dirk Davis, Jr. of Bartonville, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Jimi Davis and Jaxon Davis; one sister-in-law Melody (Chuck) Emig of Bartonville, Illinois; two nieces Caroleen (Dorethy) Harper Pekin, Illinois and Donna (Emig) Singh Bakersfield, California, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; one son, Dirk Davis; two brothers, James and Berwyn Dorethy; and one sister-in-law, Carol (Davis) Dorethy.

Mary Agnes was a devoted mother and housewife. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin for many years before moving to Michigan to be closer to family.

She liked talking with family and friends as well as genealogy, music, cooking/baking and sharing recipes.

Mary Agnes enjoyed talking about her Christian faith. At Brittany Manor she had three very special friends, Sunday, Donna and Virginia. Together they would play cards, bingo and dined. They enriched her life at Brittany Manor.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, with a gathering for lunch following. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
