

Born October 24, 1924 in Canton to Earl Lee and Mabel Audrey (Gardner) Jacobus, she married Gerald Gene Sarff on May 27, 1943 in Kahoka. He died on August 19, 1979 in Osage Beach, MO. She also was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry Sarff of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Rick (Charmayne) Sarff of Pekin; two granddaughters, Holly (Matt) Higham and Abbey Sarff, both of Pekin;1 great-grandson, Brantley Higham of Pekin; and two sisters, Marjorie Vickers of Smithfield and Audrey Jacobus of Albany, NY.
Mary served at Camp Ellis during World War II and had formerly worked at American Distilling Company in Pekin. She and her husband owned and operated Sarff’s Motel in Osage Beach, Missouri for 25 years, retiring in 1983.
Mary was also a dedicated volunteer at Pekin Hospital for 18 years.
Her funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Deacon Kevin Zeeb will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
