Melody "Sue" Watson

PEKIN ~ Melody “Sue” Watson, 72, of Pekin, passed away at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria.

Born January 7, 1949 in Rolla, Missouri to Robert and Goldye (Davidson) Giddens, she married Larry Watson on January 23, 1966 in Pekin. He died August 21, 2017 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James “Jim”, Terry and Richard “Poose” Giddens and one infant brother, Gary Dean Giddens and one sister, Joyce Adkins.

Surviving are two daughters, Tammy Niklewicz of Bolingbrook and Debbie Shipman of Peoria; four grandchildren, Austin (Jasmine) Harper, Mason Harper, Myah Shipman and Hannah Niklewicz; two great-grandchildren and three siblings, Sharon (Willie) McDonald of Marquette Heights, Robert “Babe” Giddens of Sinclair, Missouri and Ronald “Whis” (Louise) Giddens of North Pekin.

Sue worked as waitress at local restaurant’s for 25-plus years, last working at Annie’s in Tremont.

She was a people person, who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to help offset expenses.
