Nancy Sue Evans

Born on September 11, 1950, in Bloomington, the daughter of Charles L. and Margaret A. (Kelso) Schettler. She married H. Randy Stroup on April 11, 1981. She then married John E. Wagle on November 8, 2002, and then later married William “Bill” Evans on June 25, 2020. He survives.

Nancy is also survived by one daughter: Dr. Tiffani (Lariven) Franada of Dunlap, one son: Randall C. Stroup of Peoria Heights, two granddaughters: Alison and Madeline, two brothers: Charles L. Schettler of Breckinridge, CO and Thomas K. Schettler of Virginia Beach, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one aunt: Leontine Jones.

Nancy was a graduate of Illinois State University Class of 1972. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She later worked for Methodist Medical Center in Peoria for 23 years as a Dietary Clerk.

She loved bowling, baking, was an avid book reader, cross stitching, taking walks, sending emails, playing racket ball, loved new challenges and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy had a special bond with her mother and Aunt and really enjoyed all the memories they made together.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. David Taylor will officiate the service. Visitation will be 2 hours prior at the funeral home. Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL at noon.
