

PEKIN ~ Nicholas Davis King, 34, of Pekin passed away on October 18, 2020 at 5:49 p.m. at UnityPoint-Health Pekin.
Born October 22, 1985 in Cedar Rapids Iowa to John and Laura (Wilson) King. He married Amanda Randall on July 28, 2007 in Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda; his son, Easton; daughters, Emerson and Zoey King all of Pekin; parents, Laura Wilson-King of Pekin and John (Angie) King of Iowa; two sisters, Jennifer (Joseph) Denning of Pekin, Melissa King of Pekin; maternal grandparents, Marilyn (Russell) Keller of Pekin; in-laws, Kevin and Jody Randall of Minnesota; two brother-in-laws, Christopher (Stephanie) Randall of Minnesota, Jacob (Tessa) Randall of North Dakota; sister-in-law Elizabeth Randall of Minnesota; many nieces and nephews and beloved dog Addie
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Clyde and Doris Davis.
Nicholas graduated in 2004 from Washington High School in Cedar rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the All-Metro and Iowa All Stars Teams in 2004. He went on to play baseball at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Illinois Central Community College and Western Illinois University. A shoulder injury cut his baseball career short, but that didn’t stop him from being on the ball field.
Nicholas soon took up competive softball and started traveling the country. He looked forward to getting back on the field.
He worked in the sales industry for many years last working for Recon Roofing and Construction and Solar Up selling roofing, contracting supplies and solar equipment.
Nicholas enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, playing dartball with his grandfather Russ, Iowa Hawkeye sports especially football and basketball, and watching the Chicago Cubs. Baseball was his life and continued to play in competitive softball leagues and received an award last year at the end of the season. He loved his family and always thought about others before himself he would gladly drop what he was doing to help others. He was known to find enjoyment in anything he was doing. He will be missed by all family and friends who knew him.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 24, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Samuel T. Gibb will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed.
Memorials may be made to the family for the children’s college expenses.
