Born October 01, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Orville Clayton and Lillian (Burgess) Vestal, he married Sandra L. Green on November 7, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa. She died August 6, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clint Robert Vestal and one sister, Shirley Wilson.
Surviving are two sons, William Clay (Tamara) Vestal of North Pekin and Derek Mathew (Kara) Vestal of Bartonville; two daughters, Lynel Marie (Tim) Weatherington of Pekin and Laura Lee Weatherington of Creve Coeur; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Bozarth of Creve Coeur.
He worked for many years as a carpenter and sider.
Bill enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and feeding the local wildlife. He loved his dogs and spending time with his family. Bill was an excellent cook and made a special Christmas chili. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
