

PEKIN ~ Pauline A. Vasquez, 83, of 1213 South 9th Street, passed away at 11:51 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Pekin Hospital Emergency Room. She was formerly of 2615 South Irving Street in Denver, Colorado.
Born June 22, 1923 in La Junta, Colorado to Joe and Louisa (Garcia) Arellano, she married Pete Vasquez on February 1, 1943 at Raton, New Mexico. He died February 20, 1995 in Denver, Colorado. She also was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Peter A. Vasquez of the State of Utah and Lawrence E. Vasquez of Denver; two daughters, Christine R. Martinez of Los Angeles and Rebecca A. (Wayne) Mencin of Pekin; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Ernest Arellano of La Juanta, Colorado and two sisters, Lucille Arellano of Pueblo, Colorado and Dolores Mascacenas of Mansfield, Texas.
She was of the Catholic faith.
A registered nurse, Pauline worked for Park View Manor Nursing Home in Denver for 30 years, retiring as the Director of Nursing in 1994.
She enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles.
There will be no services or visitation. She will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
