

Born June 25, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to Anzel Ray and Mamie Jewel (Luker) Woolf, she married Anthony Wesley “Tony” York on March 31, 1967 in North Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Julie (Michael) Petrone of Peoria Heights; four sons, Tony (Tracie) York, Jr. of Delavan, Mark (Tina) York of Marquette Heights, Steven York of Pekin and Jonathan (Courtney) York of Pekin; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Rose (Dan) Phillips of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Melba Sue York and Demetri Ann “Dee” Carrington.
Peggy was a church pianist and keyboardist for more than 50 years. She also made puppets and oversaw a puppet ministry for many years and also established and led “Cabin Fever Mom’s”, a mom’s morning out group held on Tuesday’s for 15 years. In all, Peggy loved her family and had a heart for church growth and evangelism.
She was a member of Lighthouse Church of God in Pekin.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Lighthouse Church of God in Pekin. Bishop Raeford Black will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
