He was born May 31, 1926 in Kewanee to Ray and Alma E. (Boyd) Putman. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister.
Phil is survived by one sister, Shirley A. Grieshaber of Bartonville.
He was United States Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean War.
Phil last worked as a cook on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and was known for his sugar cookies.
He was a member of Pekin Church of Christ.
Private burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
