I never knew you as a step father but my dad. We were together since I was 2 years old. I struggled with knowing how you really felt about me, does he keep in contact because he feels he has to...or does he really love me like a daughter.  Things were rough and so confusing. I desperately wish that I talked to you about it as I now will never really know that answer. My friend Julie told me a memory that made me laugh. She said she will forever remember him greased up all tan in his speedo in the pool lol.  So true. I remember having pizza and chips every Friday night. I remember going to gma West's house every weekend with my cousin Kara and so many people being there.  The family was all so close. Dad sure loved his family like crazy. He didn't know a stranger.  He loved his daughter Lisa most of all, I remember when we would pick Lisa up for the weekend and it was like Christmas morning to me. I idolized her and those weekends were the best (because Dad was on his good behavior then lol).  He would light up when he saw her and I beamed lol. I love you dad and I'm torn that we hadn't spoke in years. It's taking a toll on me. I wish one of us would have reached out. I hope you come to me in a dream so we can have that talk. I need it. 

So many great things to be said  about Randy West ... When I  came into the family  I was a very blessed  that  randy and the west family made me  feel welcomed to be part of there get together at the family house in south Pekin on those Saturday or Sunday mornings and sit , talk and drink a lot of coffee.... But randy always made time for everyone.. But I'm just glad to have gotten to know him as a true caring person . Randy had his low and his highs made light of some of life's problems some at times was trying.... but in the end he always said just learn from what was wrong and make it better. Those Friday night pizza and chips was the meal or as he says I would really love some egg fou young thou ha ha. Randy has taught us all just be who you are and make what you can for yourself and live life . Well I could go on and on of all the things that randy has done for me when I was younger. And for that it made me strive to work harder and to appreciate life ,,,I will miss those times of hearing his voice or drinking coffee just talking about how getting old in life is tough.but to just say thank you ( Randy West for being who you was and letting us all enjoy your time on this earth)....... we all will miss ya and wait for the time to reunite to see you again . You was like a friend, father and a brother to me till we meet again 

RIP Randy. You were a wonderful father to our daughter Lisa.

Randy was a good man and a very kind hearted giving person. I am saddened at his passing but realized that he has moved on to a better place in heaven with family and friends. Randy always treated me and my family with kindness and love no matter what was going on in any of our lives. As I look back on the last 19 years that I knew him, I see flashes of memories with him that will be cherished for ever. I remember the first week that I met Randy, I was a young head strong adult that he accepted with open arms and heart. We talked about so many things during our time together like cars, military, family, and friends. I will miss his wisdom, guidance, and council. He always lives for his family and friends, helping when ever he could. The biggest thing he always told me was do what you can, the best that you can. I miss Randy deeply and love just as much.

The very first time I met you I remember I was so nervous. I wanted so badly to make a good first impression. When i met you I went to give you a handshake and we ended up sharing a hug. I never felt uncomfortable around you from that point on. We had some great conversations and I only hope that my kids will look up to me someday the way that yours do to you. I will miss you and I look forward to seeing you again someday. Please watch over us and keep us safe, you will aways be in our hearts. I love you. 

I miss you!! You  were the best grandpa and I'm very grateful that you were mine?? You always made me feel better and see the bigger picture. I will forever cherish our conversations and all of your wise advice . You never judged me , You just loved me. My grandfather was truly a wonderful man who made this world a better place!! Hi my name is ryan craig and as you well know randal west, my grandfather has passed. i didnt know him too well but i loved him very much.he  was a great man and one of the great things he ever told me was to live life in the moment, i do this now thanks to his words and my life has increasingly gotten better so i want to say thank you to my grandpa, and encourage you all to follow his words as well.


To a great man who taught me a lot about life and what it takes to be happy and successful. I miss you bunches Pa.

I miss you dearly.  I find it hard to come home and have you not there watching the T.V.  The last few months had been a very trying time for us.  With all the health issues that you bravely faced everyday, I am glad to know that you are no longer in pain and suffering.  May you now rest in peace and be with the family members you have longed to see again.

From a very early age I knew Randy was a unique, daring person.  The fact that he could take a beat up old car and turn it into a work of art was amazing to me.  I always looked up to him and wanted to be like him.  He came back from the Army and continued his career in Automechanics, and continued to restore older vehicles (now Mercedes Benz).  In the last few years I got to spend some time with he and his wife Brigitte ( they took me in during a difficult time in my life)   I remember that he loved the cinnamon roles that I baked once a week.
He made it clear he was proud of who I was, and I was certainly proud of who he was!
Rest in peace my brother, I will always love you.

 Randy we were friends from the time we could walk. We were separated by miles at times but our friendship was always there. Of the many people who crossed my path I will always hold you as a friend and a brother. You are in our lives for a moment, but in our memories for a life time. Rest in peace. Love ya buddy. 


Grew up in South Pekin with West Family. Cheryl was one of my best friends. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

I have so many memories. It is difficult to say goodbye to Uncle Randy. From him offering to let me drive his van when I was ready to head off to college...to him bringing Mom to see my firstborn when he was in pain himself...I am glad to have known him. So much love...May his memory be eternal!
